ATELIER

Classes are taught by Axel Thierauf in his private Atelier in the city of Solingen. There is easy access by local bus from the main station (Solingen Hbf), and walking distance is around 30 minutes. Commuting from Cologne and Dusseldorf is around 30 minutes by car.

The instruction is according to the Russian Academic method that has been preserved since the 19^th century, this traditional way of learning fine art is one of the most comprehensive and thorough, focusing exclusively on a practical approach. This makes this atelier one of a kind in Germany and offers a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to develop their skills to their fullest. Axel Thierauf studied this technique in the city of Florence under Russian masters graduated from the Imperial Academy of Art in St. Petersburg.

The study program at the atelier will naturally be more flexible and will largely depend on the knowledge level and the number of hours taken by the student. Projects are mostly of long duration (+20 hr.) and are taken to a high-quality finish, always working from life, main focuses of study include: composition, proportions, anatomy, light and shadow, volume, perspective, and color relationships.

This Knowledge is essential for anyone seeking to achieve proficiency in their 2D artistic work and for people looking to learn something new and rare in todays digitalized world.

A certificate will be issued at the end of at least one month duration project, however it is to be noted that this is not an officially approved or recognized institution by the German government, rather a private atelier where private lessons are taught.
